Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how D5 spam guard bot (the “Bot”) processes information when it is installed in and used within a Discord server. By installing or using the Bot, you acknowledge the practices described below.

1. Information the Bot processes

To provide its moderation function, the Bot may temporarily process:

• Discord server, channel, message, and user identifiers.
• Images attached to messages, displayed in link embeds, or included in forwarded message snapshots.
• Text extracted from those images by optical character recognition (OCR).
• Usernames, display names, avatar URLs, attachment names, and image source URLs needed to produce moderation alerts.
• The outcome of attempted moderation actions, such as message deletion and timeout status.

2. Information the Bot stores

The Bot stores the Discord server identifier and the moderation channel identifier selected through the /setup command. This configuration is retained until it is replaced, deleted by the operator, or the Bot’s persistent storage is removed.

The Bot may also cache the public Tesseract OCR language model. This cache does not contain Discord message content or personal data.

3. Moderation alerts and retention

When an image matches the configured detection rules, the Bot sends a report to the server’s selected moderation channel. That report may contain the posting user’s identifier and username, the source channel and message identifiers, the image source, extracted OCR text, and moderation results.

These reports become Discord messages. Their retention and deletion are controlled by the relevant Discord server administrators and Discord’s own systems. The Bot does not maintain a separate database of moderation incidents.

4. How information is used

The Bot processes information only to:

• Detect images matching its anti-scam moderation rules.
• Delete matching messages when authorized.
• Apply Discord timeouts when authorized and technically possible.
• Notify the configured moderation channel.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Bot.

5. Data sharing

The Bot does not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Information may be processed by:

• Discord, as required to receive messages and perform moderation actions through Discord’s platform.
• The infrastructure provider used by the Bot operator to host the application.
• Server administrators and moderators who can access the configured moderation channel.
• Authorities or other parties when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or service security.

6. Legal basis and server responsibility

The person or organization operating the Bot is responsible for determining the applicable legal basis for processing in its jurisdiction. Discord server owners are responsible for informing their members about moderation tools and configuring channel access appropriately.

7. Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to limit access to the Bot and its credentials. No system is completely secure, and uninterrupted or error-free processing cannot be guaranteed.

8. Your choices and requests

Server administrators can stop future processing by removing the Bot from the server. Requests concerning moderation alert messages should generally be directed to the administrators of the Discord server where the alert was posted.

For questions about this policy or the Bot’s stored server configuration, open an issue in the GitHub repository. Do not include private Discord tokens, sensitive personal information, or confidential message content in a public issue.

9. Children’s privacy

The Bot is not directed at children below the minimum age required to use Discord in their country. Use of Discord remains subject to Discord’s own age requirements and policies.

10. International processing

Depending on the hosting provider, Discord server location, and Bot operator, information may be processed in countries other than the user’s country of residence.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the Bot, legal requirements, or operational practices. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.

This policy describes the open-source Bot’s default behavior. A third-party operator who deploys a modified copy may use different hosting, retention, or processing practices and should publish its own policy.
